OXYGEN & PRESSURE
IHHT vs. HBOT
Two approaches involving oxygen. Different equipment, different environments, different research.
THE KEY DIFFERENCE
IHHT changes the oxygen concentration you breathe. Clinical HBOT combines oxygen with increased ambient pressure inside a chamber.
Side by side.
METHODS, NOT PROMISESScroll sideways to compare →
| What matters | IHHT | Clinical HBOT |
|---|---|---|
| Meaning | Intermittent hypoxic–hyperoxic training. | Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. |
| Air pattern | Lower-oxygen intervals alternate with oxygen-enriched intervals. | Near-pure oxygen is breathed at increased ambient pressure. |
| Environment | A mask-based session at ordinary ambient pressure. | A chamber pressurized above normal ambient pressure. |
| Experience | Usually seated or reclining outside a pressure vessel. | Inside a chamber, with pressurization and depressurization as part of the process. |
| Key buying questions | Gas delivery, monitoring, suitability, operating guidance, and service. | Intended use, chamber type, oxygen delivery, supervision, and facility requirements. |
| Evidence | An emerging body of protocol- and population-specific research. | Clinical evidence and indications must be matched to the condition and treatment protocol. |
General method comparison. Individual devices, protocols, and intended uses vary.

Context changes
the conclusion.
“Oxygen therapy” is too broad to make these approaches interchangeable. Research on clinical HBOT cannot be used as proof of IHHT benefits. A chamber’s pressure and oxygen delivery also matter; a generic “hyperbaric” label does not describe the complete intervention.

A prescribed medical treatment and a wellness purchase answer different needs. An IHHT system is not a substitute for indicated HBOT.
Evaluate the whole environment.
HBOT has chamber-specific operating and fire precautions. Both approaches require appropriate suitability assessment and equipment instructions.
